Hellsing and Dracula - not quite a review

Yayyy i'm a weeabo - Jan 24, 2023

Hello!
A few days ago i started watching Hellsing (two or three days ago, i think...). How i heard of the anime is a pretty silly story.

Last year i had started reading Dracula, by Bram Stoker (the original Dracula lol), but due to melancholy and just my normal desire to give up on everything i stopped reading it.

But.

This month i began rereading it! Yayyyy! And it's a pretty good book imo. I had already found it interesting at first though.
I like the slight feeling of anxiety and uneasiness that the book gives at certain points. All the characters are interesting and well constructed, and i was surprised to find out that vampires and wolves actually do get along well, but since Hollywood is warty and dumb they changed this for whatever reason.
I liked the ending and blablabla but this post isn't really about Dracula (even though the book is pretty cool, you should read it. Read the book. Read the book. Read it. Just do it.). It's more about the anime that i just finished watching.

Hellsing is an anime from 2001 by GONZO studios. It's (quite loosely) based off the homonymous manga by Kouta Hirano.
"Hellsing, an organization specializing in dealing with supernatural threats, is called in to eliminate a vampire that is turning the villagers of Cheddar into ghouls. To put an end to this, the leader of the organization, Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, dispatches her most formidable asset: a powerful vampire known as Alucard.
Armed with only a single handgun, Alucard wreaks havoc on the monsters plaguing Cheddar. However, a young police officer, Seras Victoria, gets caught up in the chaos and becomes mortally wounded as a result. Taking pity on the girl, Alucard gives her a choice: die as a human or live on as a vampire. Seras accepts his offer and begins a new life as a member of Hellsing.
Though it was her decision, Seras struggles with the fact that she is no longer human. Nevertheless, she must embrace being a creature of the night soon if she wants to survive on the front lines in the fight between humans and the supernatural."

Ok now that I've successfully pasted the synopsis here time to say what i thought of it...

It's very enjoyable. I like the animation and i found the story and the characters very compelling. The opening is on my top 'whatever number' of best anime openings. I think it should've had a second season, because it feels like the ending was a bit lacking, but it's a good ending anyway. Some things were left open and up to interpretation, so i guess i have to read the manga and watch the OVAs. What a misery!
(Just in case you can't tell, this was sarcasm.)
But yeah, it was good. My favorite characters are Alucard, Seras and Integra. They're 1337.
It's a quite short anime that only has 13 EPs so i think anyone can watch it in a short time.

But yep, i guess this wraps up today's post guys. Watch Hellsing, read Dracula and don't trust any bats coming near your window. Bai~
